Description:
Bowl’d is a modern salad bowl bar conceptualized to prove that healthy eating doesn't have to be a flavorless chore. The menu centers on customizable, seasonal, and fresh bowls designed for busy individuals who refuse to settle for boring food. While the initial brief called for a "fresh and playful" vibe, we pushed the concept further by grounding it in a rich, specific cultural narrative.
The Challenges
The "Westernized" Salad Trap: Most salad bars follow a generic, westernized aesthetic—lots of minimalist white, light wood, and predictable greens. The challenge was to break this mold and create a visual language that felt distinctly Indian without falling into "ethnic" clichés.
Identity Contradiction: We had to answer a complex design question: How do you make a salad bar—a relatively modern, global concept—feel like it has deep Indian culinary roots?
Balancing "Fresh" with "Traditional": Finding the sweet spot where "modern and healthy" meets the bold, vibrant, and complex persona of Indian culture was the primary creative hurdle.
We skipped the generic route and went straight for the roots. We reimagined Bowl’d through an Indian persona, asking: “How would a salad bar look if it focused on Indian culinary culture?” The result is a brand identity that is bold, playful, and modern, yet feels like it belongs in an Indian kitchen. We moved beyond simple branding and a loyalty card to create a visual system that celebrates local heritage while serving a global, fast-paced audience.
